Shankar had said that the delay in the shooting of Indian 2 was due to the delay made by Lyca. The film’s protagonist Kamal was also cited as the reason for the delay. Lyca has written a letter saying that Shankar should not be allowed to direct other films till the end of Indian 2 and that he should be banned. Following the success of the 2.0 film, Shankar planned to shoot the second part of the Indian film and started shooting with Kamala. The film is produced by Lyca. Saying a budget of Rs 270 crore, Shankar reduced it to Rs 250 crore as per Lyca’s request. In this situation, there was a tragic incident where an accident took place during the shooting and some lives were lost.

Filming of Indian 2 was halted due to a disagreement between Shankar and the production company. The halt is even longer due to Kamal’s political outing. Shankar decided to direct a film starring Ram Charan in Telugu and Tamil instead of Indian 2. While the work was going on, Ranveer Singh decided to remake the movie Anniyan in Hindi. Realizing that he could not catch Shankar for another four years, Lyca asked for an interim ban as he had to direct other films after finishing Indian 2. Denying this, the court sent a notice to Shankar asking for an explanation.
